BC AkaFellas Official Site

The BC AkaFellas are Filipino choristers with a passion for music. Their dedication to church services led them to sing in a church based choir in Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Delta, BC. It was November 2006 when they found themselves together practicing christmas carols. Friendship then blooms from the jamming, sing-along and get together sessions after their church singing obligations... soon they discovered that most of the members have a choral experience from the Philippines and that they miss the choir pieces they usually sang back home. Practicing old pieces they know like “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” and “Rosas Pandan” led them to sing for a choirmate’s big gathering. One jamming to another eventually paved the way for them to perform at Sharon Cuneta’s Vancouver concert, thus the BC AkaFellas was born. Choirmaster Al Mendoza took up Conservatory of Music at the U.S.T. He also attended choral conducting and techniques at the Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music (AILM) under German conductor Martin Behrmann. He conducted the choir for the Centennial Celebration at the Luneta Park in 1998. He also arranged for and conducted the KB Choir which performed in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Japan in 1982. Together with the new talents joining them, the group now aims to continue to share their God given music by performing various music styles and forms to preserve & promote the Filipino chorale culture.
